Responsibilities
- Be willing to represent families in divorce, child custody, and child support cases when the need arises
- Initiate action to respond to and resolve procedural and substantive issues pertaining to family law
- Assist clients with preparing legal pleadings and motions, and represent clients at hearings and informal meetings
- Experienced in representing clients at mediation, arbitration, and settlement conferences
- Knowledge of how to prepare and submit legal pleadings and motions in accordance with local, state, and federal procedural rules
- Advise, counsel, and represent clients through mediation, arbitration, and settlement conferences
- Establish effective working relationships with clients, court officials, attorneys, and other parties
- Train and mentor less experienced attorneys
- Attend continuing legal education and professional seminars to stay up-to-date on developments in family law
- Engage in other related duties as assigned
- And other responsibilities that may be required from time to time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in law (Essential)
- 3+ years of experience in family law practice or related legal field (Essential)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to represent clients in court
- Ability to manage clients and prioritize workload
- Ability to manage and supervise support staff
- Ability to counsel family clients on divorce, child custody, and settlement
